The Talisman Artist creates majestic sculptures of Bonsai tree on rock. His compositions remind a miniature scene of mountain landscape. In his works he used a unique crafting techniques and developed an individual style.

My hobby – creating Bonsai over the rock sculptures - was inspired by the Bonsai Art.  For seven years, I’ve been growing my own bonsai garden, and during my progress I have been trying the so-called “root over the rock” technique. This technique implies planting a Bonsai tree on a rock. The composition of a Bonsai tree gripping the rock looks so natural and reminds miniature mountains scenery. I always admired the harmony of rock and tree. It’s amazing how the nature manages to survive on an infertile rocky ground.

Growing a Bonsai over the rock is a beautiful art that requires a lot of time and patience. A few years can pass until you can finally see the result of your hard work. Unfortunately, not every project ends successfully. The bonsai tree planted on the rock is especially sensitive to the nature conditions. I live in Israel, where the weather sometimes gets extremely hot.  So I decided to overtake on the nature and time by creating my own bonsai over the rock sculptures.

The idea of creating the composition of mountain landscape I have taken from Suiseki Stones school, whereas the idea of creating the tree with draping roots growing on craggy rocks -  from the Bonsai culture.  In my works, I strive to express the geometry of the bonsai tree, the texture of the trunk, the curves of twisted brunches, and the exposed root system.

The materials I used to utilize in my works are: copper, solder, rosin, wood, and lacquer. Every sculpture stands on a high-quality wood display or pedestal. I use rocks collected from Judean desert, Golan mountains, and those found at the aquariums decoration shop. These rocks have a very beautiful texture and bring good energy to a person owing it.
